How do I find Camp
Sister Spirit?
For a map with directions to Camp Sister Spirit click
here.
-
Are Men or children allowed
at the Camp?
Yes, this is a common misconception, with the exception of the few "Womyn
Only Events" men are always welcome. Children are also usually welcome,
although appropriateness should be judged by the nature of the event going
on at that time. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
-
Can guests use the kitchen facilities?
Yes, basic foodstuffs (like spices and condiments) are available for use.
The refrigerator is free for use (some cabins have a small refrigerator
in them). You are welcome to use any pots and pans. The only stipulation
is: If you dirty it up, clean it up!
We will gladly handle the kitchen and meals for any size group,
including arranging outside catering (outside catering MUST be paid for
in advance) if desired, please note that such arrangements must be made
ahead of time.
-
How long can you stay at the
camp and what do you do to become a caretaker?
To become a caretaker we ask that candidates stay for a period of two weeks,
leave the camp and then come back a few weeks later and stay for 90 days.
During this time caretakers and candidates can get to know one another and
decide if it is viable. Duration of stays at the camp has to be negotiated
ahead of time. Just showing up is never a good idea!
-
Is the camp a homeless shelter
or a battered women's center?
No, the camp addresses these issues and can help with counseling and referrals
however we are not set up or licensed to act as a shelter.

Why can't I bring my pets?
We have LOTS of animals that live here already. This is their home and they
are very territorial about it. Strange animals cause a disruption in their
lives and they act out and can become aggressive. We simply don't want to
deal with the stress or have our pets stressed out. Of course, we adhere to
the ADA and allow "helper animals". There is a wonderful vet nearby
that offers kennel facilities.
